This just in: You can’t rape people even if they’re your wife! ZOMG!
I sincerely can’t believe that an American court actually ruled in favor of a man forcing his wife to have sex with him. Yes, it’s true that within the tenets of Islam the rape of your wife isn’t rape, but Islam does not make the law of the land. The woman describes being forced to have sex while crying and the man justifying himself by saying, “You are my wife, I can do anything to you. The woman, she should submit and do anything I ask her to do.” That is rape. The fact that Islam allows a man to be a rapist just further sheds light on the beauty and wonder of that Religion of Peace. In the particulars of the case, the man raped her and divorced her the next day.
That said, at least the ruling was overturned. Good job, appeals court. It absolutely boggles my mind that such a barbaric practice can be considered acceptable, and that any court in any rational country would uphold that permission over the basic human rights of the wife.
There is no getting around it, Islam is a religion that promotes violence, the brutal subjugation of women and children, intolerance, hypocrisy, and a host of other disgusting virtues. It is not a religion of peace, and the only way it can be seen as remotely positive is when the faithful ignore certain of its teachings. This is why I cringe when I hear about people wanting Shariah Law brought in to Western countries.
I have friends who are Muslims. They are not bad people. They ignore the aspects of their religion that promote such awful treatment of women, and in so doing, they ignore the teachings of their God. If their just God commands it and they do not comply, will that not end in judgement?
