It’s first thing in the morning, the sky is cloudy with the menace of rain, and I just read me an interesting article about pornography and sexually repressive societies. The more you repress it, the more you want it is an article on PZ Myers’ Pharyngula today, and details a few interesting points. I’ll let you read PZ’s article to get the gist of it.
If there’s one thing that has always stood the test of time, it’s that we humans like sex. Our bodies work in such a way that we’re supposed to like sex. We have it for more than just the purposes of procreation. It’s fun. It burns calories. And it has always been in the cross-hairs of religion. It’s a strange topic, and one that always makes my head swim.
Repression does one thing really well; it makes us wonder what the big deal about something is. I believe there is a part of all of us that craves forbidden fruit, and I could provide a myriad of examples to that effect from prohibition to Ted Haggard to the rate of adultery in the US. Taboo makes things delicious.
So it makes sense that the more pious a culture appears, the seedier the underbelly. With increased global access to the internet, those itches can be scratched quietly and discretely, and it comes as no surprise that the more sexually repressive regimes have a lot of people scratching a lot of itches.
So why the rather excessive domination theme in the report? Well, for starters you can’t necessarily say that. They may be coming in high on the topic, but that may not be an indicator that there is a generalized desire for domination, be it animal sex, child pornography, or adult rape. However, I would unscientifically venture a guess and say that these are cultures that are laden with anger and disgust towards women. But that’s just my speculation, and it’s easy to say that I could be way wrong. I don’t live inside the culture and it’s easy to judge from afar.
Ladies and gentlemen, I submit to you that sex is fun, and let’s just leave it at that. You want to watch it on the internet? I say go for it. You want to act out your domination fantasies? So long as you aren’t hurting anyone, I say go for it. To slightly alter a line I regularly use to discuss gay marriage, if it’s not happening in my house and it’s not hurting anyone, what right have I to care about it at all?

Ian hurts me when he ties me up too tight. What does this mean? He also leaves hand prints on my bum when he spanks me. Do we need church intervention?

Lost in faith and masturbation
The church would just try to exorcise your sex-demons, which kinda defeats the point in having awesome sex-demons in the first place.
As an alternative J & I could offer you guys some “intervention” in the spare room in our basement … Just sayin.
