Bras: When Man Beats Nature, Nature Doesn’t Give You Cancer

I’ve heard this particular myth quite a bit, and it’s nice to see that it’s garbage. Dr. Amy Tuteur posted on her blog (The Skeptical OB) recently an article debunking the alt-med theory that bras cause cancer. And I for one am glad to hear it. Frankly, I’m bloody thrilled to hear this. I like bras. I admit that I’m a boy and my perspective means nothing in this argument, but I find them sexy and that’s just how it is.

In fact, when my eldest daughter first started to develop breasts, I made an off-handed comment to her mother, my ex-wife, in front of my mother that we would need to go bra shopping soon. Both women, who do wear bras it should be noted, turned on me like a hungry black widow on her boy toy and explained to me that this was the single worst idea ever, as if I’d just said “She’s hitting puberty, soon we’ll need to get her addicted to IV drugs and having promiscuous and unprotected sex.” I’m just glad I caught myself before I said that one. Egg on MY face!

Of course a few weeks later I was in the mall with my ex-wife and my eldest daughter finding bras that we could all agree on. This was no easy task; the daughter wanted something sexy, ex-wife wanted something comfortable, and I wanted to be anywhere else on earth, but eventually we found a couple of very nice bras that mixed comfort, style, and me paying so we can get the hell out of there in perfect measures.

Bras, ladies and gentlemen. They don’t cause cancer, they don’t constrict your lymph, and they won’t be the first against the wall when the revolution comes anymore.
