Today is a National Day of Prayer …

Everyone bow for a moment of dedication to god … hmm … curious … i don’t hear any response. He must be busy helping various countries kill citizens of other various countries.

  1. As a proud citizen of a truly great country, I’ve always hated these National Day Of ______ days. Do we really all need to talk like a pirate? I just looked at http://canada.gc.ca/whats-quoi/nel_fg-eng.html#May to see what’s coming. We’re mid-way through Emergency Preparedness Week, and by the end of the month we’ll be recognizing the importance of the mining industry, paying tribute to the police, becoming more aware of our aboriginal peoples, raising awareness of missing children, and celebrating the environment.

Me, I’m gonna celebrate with beer.

  2. Is it National Beer Appreciation Day? oh right, that’s every day.

I can get behind celebrating people or events of great national or global importance (like Darwin, Martin Luther King or the Earth), but i have no desire to see my co-workers walking around in their underwear for No Pants Day.

well, at least some of my co-workers.

  3. Today I noticed on the bus ride to work that we are midway through National Victims of Violent Crime Week. It really made me think. Who knew that Violent Crime Week had so many victims that they needed a national organization?
